How We Do It

Our Process

Our Solar Installation Process

Getting started with AVH Solar is simple and straightforward. Once you reach out, we’ll arrange a site visit to assess your home, understand your energy requirements, and review the installation space. An experienced solar installer will then recommend a system suited to your needs, followed by a clear quote outlining the proposed scope of work. When you’re ready to proceed, our team completes the installation, commissions the system, and ensures everything is operating correctly, giving you confidence in a reliable, professionally installed solar solution built to perform long term.

Consultation & Site Review

Consultation & Site Review

We begin by reviewing your household energy usage and discussing your expectations for backup power and solar generation. A site visit is carried out to confirm roof suitability, equipment placement, and electrical integration requirements.

System Design & Proposal

System Design & Proposal

Using the information gathered on site, a solar system is designed to suit your home’s energy profile. A proposal is then provided outlining the system, equipment selection, and scope of work.

3

Installation & System Setup

After approval, the system is installed by our team using approved installation practices. All components are connected, configured, and tested to ensure safe and reliable operation.

Once installation is complete, the system is commissioned and verified under load. We then explain system operation, monitoring, and basic usage, with ongoing support available should adjustments or future upgrades be required.

FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions

Solar panels capture sunlight and turn it into electricity you can use in your home.

Only if it includes battery storage — panels alone won’t power your home when the grid is off.

Yes most systems stay connected so you can draw from the grid when solar isn’t enough.

Yes many solar installations are modular. You can start with a base system and expand later (add more panels, batteries or larger inverters) as demand grows.

Most solar panels are built to last at least 20–25 years. With good installation and maintenance, many deliver reliable performance for decades.

You don’t necessarily need a battery: solar panels can supply power directly during the day even without batteries. However, if you want power at night, backup during outages or full energy independence (off-grid or hybrid), a battery makes a big difference.

Yes quality solar panels continue to produce power even on cloudy or rainy days, though output will be lower. Rain can also help keep panels clean, preserving efficiency.

Most solid, stable roofs are fine but the roof should ideally have clear northern exposure (in South Africa), be structurally sound, and not heavily shaded. Flat or slightly inclined roofs can work if mounting is done correctly.

Maintenance is minimal: regular checks and cleaning of panels (removing dust, leaves, debris), periodic inspection of inverters and wiring, and ensuring batteries (if used) are kept in good condition.

Once your quote is approved, a typical residential installation takes 1–3 days depending on system size and roof height. Larger or custom systems may take longer.
